Your story, our story (non -scripted version)

1) Tell the group a short story about something real that happened to you in your life. Unless a group know each other really well and there is a very strong feeling of trust between its members, we'd recommend that the story chosen is funny or focuses on a positive life changing event, rather than something negative or distressing. The example below is from Nick's childhood and it's about his relationship with his older brother, Mike.

2) Put the participants into groups and ask them to prepare a remote performance of your story.

3) Each group present their performances to the others. Initiate a feedback session, commenting on the performance and discussing differences from your original story.

4) Invite another participant to tell a story and invite more performances for this story.

Variation:

 a) Ask for volunteers to spontaneously perform the story after you've told it. This is obviously more challenging but can also inject more energy into the performances. See this spontaneous version of Nick's personal story above, performed by Irena in Serbia and Imad in Gaza. https://youtu.be/YL5p31pRnpU
