Remote Theatre

Unusual views

In face-to-face theatre the audience can only really see things as they would in real life because they are looking at the stage with the naked eye.  In remote theatre however, because everything is filtered through the lens of a camera there is the possibility of zooming in on faces, body parts or objects by moving them closer to the camera.  The effect of this can be highly engaging for the audience.

By thinking carefully about the positioning of the camera, or by using an external webcam, we can provide the audience with a view that they wouldn't normally have; a close up view of an insomniac pirate in bed; or the feet of a man with only one shoe etc. Again, this can provide an interesting perspective on the world created on the remote stage, and this in turn may challenge the audience to interpret that world differently.
